New factory building in Myto has been finished

In October 2007 the construction of the new production hall started in Myto plant. After the successful approval of the new building the launch of operation has been completed. The new building, where about 40 new employees have found their jobs, is – together with the whole plant – an example of a clean and safe plant with the focus on customer needs and the emphasis laid on quality of its processes.
The lot in Myto near Rokycany offers to Carrier the space for further growth and the development of the local plant, which is already now one of the high-techest plants in Europe due to the application of the most sophisticated technologies.
Human Resources Project of the year

Carrier RO CR has won the first place in the "Employer of the year 2008" contest, category "HUMAN RESOURCES PROJECT". Project called "Soft skills trainings for Production Leaders a la Kai Zen," led by Training&Development Manager Ivo Spilka, caught the jury´s interest already at the regional level. It had been chosen as the best HR PROJECT OF THE REGION and also received "HR MANAGERS AWARD".
At the national level, Carrier RO CR has been awarded in competition with renowned companies located in the whole Czech Republic, such as Skoda Auto, TPCA, Plzensky Prazdroj, and others.
Myto is the safest plant in Carrier

In mid-May, the UTC Assurance review, took place in the Myto plant. It is one of the most complex and rigorous safety audits, which is executed by United Technologies Company within all its entities. It comprises of the analysis of the safety measures, their set up as well as the adherence to the rules.
The outstanding result 90%, which Myto plant achieved, makes it the safest plant within Carrier and ranges it among the safest plants in the whole UTC.
The acknowledgements go to the EH&S team as well as to all employees of the Myto plant.
Human Resources Regional Project winner

Carrier RO CR has won the first place in the "Employer of the region 2008" contest, category "HUMAN RESOURCES REGIONAL PROJECT". It has also received the "HR MANAGERS AWARD", both for a project called "Soft skills trainings for Production Leaders a la Kai Zen" led by Training&Development Manager Ivo Spilka.
"Small progress every week" is the main idea of a training cycle in communication skills for production leaders. The Beroun plant production supervisors meet once a week to practice how to give and receive feedbacks, how to listen, how to manage objections and manipulation, etc. Positive changes are perceived not only by the supervisors and their team in daily communication but also by the company management in the form of a lower employee turnover, higher motivation and effort.

10 years since Linde Frigera fire

This year in May, it has been 10 years since the extensive fire of the Beroun plant. The critical situation was mastered with the active approach and help of all employees and the production was renewed in only two weeks after the fire. The fire had also its positive side as it initiated an extensive modernization of the production area as well as the fire protection in Beroun plant.
In the whole plant there are now more 200 fire extinguishers, 20 hydrants, hundreds of fire sensors, kilometers of pipes of an automatic extinction system, called the sprinkler system. The fire-stopping devices are implemented in a much larger number and capacity then is required by the European law.
Job Fair in Pilsen

On April 9th, Carrier RO CR exhibited at the West Bohemian University's Job Fair in Pilsen. Being an important employer in the Pilsen region, Carrier presented the job opportunities in its two Czech operations (Beroun and Myto u Rokycan). University students and graduates were interested in careers in the field of technology, quality and R&D as well as in the company's training program and other benefits.
Canteen in Myto plant has been reconstructed

The complete rebuilding of the canteen in Myto plant was launched January 17th. After a two months long canteen reconstruction, the Managing Director along with the first employee going for lunch cut the ceremonial ribbon on Thursday March 13th .

EuroShop 2008

Carrier Corporation participated in EuroShop, the Global Retail Trade Fair in Düsseldorf, Germany under the banner "A world of Solutions". Divided into two major themes, Merchandising and Energy, Carrier´s 1,800 sq meter stand offered the latest innovations in CO2 solutions, turnkey systems, after-sales support and service for the food retail business.
Besides other, Carrier introduced its "e*cube solutions" for sustainable refrigeration, combining energy, efficiency and ecology info smart systems that use energy wisely, where needed, when required.
TALENT Program at Carrier

"Your chance, the company’s opportunity" is the motto of the new TALENT Program of Carrier, aimed at developing the hidden potential of a selected group of workers and preparing them for future managing positions.
In order to make the right selection, the company asked for the help of all employees to nominate their colleague, who they believe has a potential to become a leader and should receive the opportunity. The correctness of the selection will be subsequently supported by psychological tests and via monitoring the selected workers at “outdoors” (=solving uncommon problems in nature). Then, the company will setup a special development program for 10 – 15 selected “talented” individuals, by virtue of which it will help to prepare them for managing positions.
The TALENT Program is determined for all Carrier employees, meaning both administrative workers and workers in production.
Beroun plant gets recognition

The Beroun plant was rewarded for its outstanding results in Productivity and Environment, Health & Safety in the year 2007. Jaroslav Hrubes, Managing Director Beroun plant, took over the award from president of Carrier, Commercial Refrigeration for Europe, Middle East and Africa at a new year's meeting of the division in Barcelona.
