The Myto plant
Expansion to Mýto u Rokycan
With a view to the limits at the Beroun plant, which is located in an urban development, the company had to look for another suitable locality for the event of further expansion. The choice finally settled on a plot of land neighbouring Mýto u Rokycan, which his situated in the vicinity of a motorway exit on the D5. The plot of land, which is almost 4.5x larger than the Beroun plot, promised sufficient space for future development. The original plans anticipated construction of a new production hall and start-up of production as early as autumn 2003. However, only one of these two plans was implemented – construction of the production hall.
Suspension of the Mýto project
Linde AG subsequently began to consider the sale of all of its companies that deal in the production of refrigerator and freezer equipment. For this reason, further investment into this plant was suspended and the project for this new production facility “dropped off”.
The production hall was thus used only occasionally in 2004 for processing of sheet metal at times when the capacity of the metalwork facility in the Beroun plant was not sufficient.
Carrier – new perspective on production
After takeover of the whole company by Carrier, the project found a new life and a full turnaround occurred in the middle of 2005. Extensive construction work was again undertaken as Carrier had diametrically differing ideas about the representation and the appearance of individual divisions.
With the great commitment of an untold group of people, it was possible in January 2006 to commence production in the first of a total of four planned assembly lines.
Mýto – the most up-to-date technology
The production range includes types of furnishings, the production of which was transferred to the Czech Republic from Germany.
The plant in Mýto is characterised by a superb quality of working environment and use of the most up-to-date technologies, inspiration for which came from the operations of top companies in the car industry.
